On Monday, August 15, 2016, the Jackson Rotary Club hosted our 9 Annual Charity Golf Tournament, This year, however, there was one difference--the name of the event has been changed in recognition of the untimely death of our Immediate Past President Mike Gormley on July 14, 2016--just one month before this Charity Golf Tournament, Golf and this tournament were a large part of Mike's life, and we wanted to honor him by naming this event in his memory for now and forever. Additionally, we have put together the Michael "Mike" Gormley Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will go to a graduating Jackson senior high school student. Through our solicitation efforts for this fund, we have managed to get enough funding to start and continue this effort.
The tournament and the luncheon afterward were a great success, with around 80 golfers playing the fabulous course at the Westlake Golf and Country Club, and enjoying a fine lunch in that club's banquet hall. All of the raffle prizes were awarded, and several extra prizes were also given out, including 4 tickets to a upcoming NY Yankees game (which would probably make Mike cringe--he was a true-blue Mets fan) as well as several gift cards from the Westlake Pro-Shop. You will find a number of photos taken of the event in the photo album.
