Service Above Self !! Another Successful Annual Rotary Sponsored Event with the Steven Kitay Family for the friends of families of the Handicapped Commission and Alpha School.
Sunday, September 30, 2018 was a beautiful clear sunny day as the Jackson Rotary Club and the Steve Kitay Family hosted another successful annual Steve Kitay Fishing Derby and Picnic at the Kitay Farm on County Line Rd in Jackson, NJ.  This event was filled with the laughter, joy and smiles of over 100 attendees as everyone walked home a winner. Every year the Kitay Family host the special needs and handicapped attendees to provide them a fun filled day with beautiful atmosphere that comes with peaceful surroundings and large stocked pond for all the participants enjoyment. This yearly event is designed to provide a fun filled exciting and activity filled day for our special citizens and their families and the The Jackson Rotary Clubs and Kitay Family did not disappoint. The Day also celebrates the memory of the Kitay Family Member Steven.

Steven Kitay was the second of five children of Izak and Paula Kitay, Holocaust survivors, who settled and started the farm in Jackson. Steve Kitay was very community minded, and strongly supported the Handicapped Commissions efforts.

The picnic started at 12 Noon, and continued into the late afternoon. The day’s events, included a picnic buffet of grilled hamburgers, hotdogs, potato and macaroni salads as well as coleslaw, cold drinks and ice cream. Judging of the days catch was conducted by members of the Jackson Memorial and Liberty High Schools’ Interact Clubs, who were on hand to help set up for the day, as well as help the picnic goers with whatever needs they had. The prizes included Biggest Fish, Smallest, Ugliest, Prettiest, and so on—in essence, every fisherperson received a trophy!
In addition to the Jackson Rotary members who help cook and entertain the young participants, members of the Jackson High Schools' Interact Clubs also work hard in making this event a success. Everyone is already excited for next year! Thank you to all the Donors and Volunteers!
