The most recent District 7500 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards training, which ran from June 29 through July 3, was closed with a rousing ceremony at the hosting site, Monmouth University, West Long Branch's Pollack Theatre. Jackson Rotary sponsored 12 Jackson High School students who attended, out of the approximately 180 teens who attended this year. Additionally, there were about 60 advisors, counselors and student leaders who worked diligently to make the program a success. 2018-2019 District 7505 Governor Bill Donnelly, along with Immediate Past-Governor 7500 Diane Rotondelli were in attendance, and Gov. Donnelly made a very poignant welcoming speech to all of the parents and guests. Following are some photos from the closing ceremony...

On June 5, 2017 approximately 260 Jackson High School seniors receive about 300 scholarships from various organization and private parties at the Annual Scholarship Night, held this year at Liberty High School’s auditorium. The Jackson Rotary Club was a big part of this process, presenting 5 scholarships to deserving seniors.
These scholarship awards in included two Jackson Rotary Scholarships, a Jackson Rotary Club in Memory of Al Lambariello, a Jackson Rotary Bill Somers Memorial Scholarship, and the first Jackson Rotary Club Scholarship in Memory of Michael Gormley. All of the memorial scholarships are in tribute to beloved members who have passed away; this includes Mike Gormley, our immediate Past-President who was killed in a motor vehicle accident, while on his way to our meeting, about one year ago. Mike was beloved not only by the Jackson Club, but also by his previous Red Bank Rotary Club, as well as District 7500 overall. The Jackson Rotary has continued to honor Mike by having renamed our annual golf tournament the Mike Gormley Annual Jackson Rotary Charity Golf Tournament, taking place this year on Monday, August 14 at the Westlake Golf & Country Club, Jackson, NJ.
